In 2011, I found myself at a crossroads in my career, eager to embark on an entrepreneurial journey. Drawn to opportunities that promote sustainability, I searched for ways to turn my passion into a viable business.
Solar energy stood out as a perfect match. The need for clean energy was undeniable, customer demand was apparent, and advancements in technology were rapidly emerging. Notably, stories of poor customer service from competitors were widespread, highlighting a significant gap in the market.
I envisioned a company centered around consumers—one that would simplify the process of purchasing and installing solar panels, ensure excellent results, and provide a reliable point of contact for any issues. Thanks to Adrian Buck, a pioneering figure in the industry who had founded Freedom Solar a few years prior, we were set on a strong path from the beginning.
From the outset, we instilled core values into Freedom Solar’s mission. A commitment to people is at the heart of our business model. Just as I believe governments and policymakers thrive by prioritizing people, this principle has been central to our approach at Freedom Solar.
Additionally, personal values that have guided my own life have woven their way into our company culture. One of the most significant lessons I’ve embraced is to step out of your comfort zone. This advice has profoundly influenced my life, and I encourage my children, friends, and team to adopt this mindset.
Embracing challenges means trying new things without fear, being open and honest with others, and tackling obstacles head-on. It’s essential for growth and innovation.
This philosophy has certainly propelled Freedom Solar forward. Our initial goal was to become the largest solar company in Texas, and we achieved that within six years. In 2020, we doubled in size; we doubled again in 2021 and nearly doubled once more in 2022.
Our values have distinguished us in a competitive market. As we continue to grow and adapt, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to them, ensuring they guide us through any challenges that lie ahead.
