Former Motocross Racer Andrew Short Achieves Energy Independence

Andrew Short, a former professional motocross and supercross racer, has taken significant steps towards energy independence by installing Freedom Solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall on his family’s farm.

With an impressive 16-year career, Short has numerous accolades to his name, including 49 podium finishes, 9 victories, and 171 Top Five finishes across the 250 and 450 classes. Additionally, he was part of the winning team at Motocross the Nations in 2010 and competed in the Dakar Rally five times, concluding his racing career with the Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team.

Short’s interest in solar energy was sparked by Winter Storm Uri, which severely affected Texas in February 2021. Motivated to ensure energy independence and enhance his family’s resilience against extreme weather, he decided to integrate solar technology into their farming operations.

Andrew expressed that having both solar panels and a backup power system provides reassurance, stating, “This setup will keep our farm powered and secure, no matter what Texas weather throws our way. It gives us immense peace of mind for our family.”
