Freedom Solar Power has successfully finished the installation of 10,000 solar panels across multiple dealerships for Group 1 Automotive. The company plans to complete solar projects at 25 locations by the end of 2024.
“We are proud to collaborate with Group 1, a leading global publicly traded automotive retailer, on their innovative solar program,” stated Kyle Frazier, Head of Commercial Sales at Freedom Solar Power. “For years, we’ve partnered with automotive dealerships nationwide to enhance their energy efficiency and reduce costs. This partnership with Group 1 will significantly amplify our impact.”
According to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), energy expenses rank as the third-highest operating cost for dealerships, driven by extended hours and energy-intensive showrooms and lots. To manage these high energy costs and ensure reliable electricity, many dealerships are opting for solar power. Additionally, transitioning to solar reflects the dealerships’ commitment to environmental sustainability, a quality that resonates with an increasingly eco-conscious customer base.
Ryan Ferrero, National Automotive Manager for Freedom Solar, remarked, “Adopting solar energy is quickly gaining traction within the automotive sector. Dealerships often have vast rooftop space suitable for solar arrays that can substantially offset their energy expenses. As more auto dealers explore solar options, they recognize its potential as an effective environmental, social, and business strategy that benefits everyone involved.”
Freedom Solar collaborates directly with manufacturers to support the installation of solar systems for franchised dealers representing brands such as Toyota, Ford, Volkswagen, Volvo, Audi, Hyundai/Genesis, and Porsche.
